Abstract: Abstract Objective: To investigate the expression and clinical significance of PSMA and AR in bladder transitional cell carcinoma (BTCC) and their relativity. Methods: Immunohistochemistry (S-P method) was used to detect the expression of PSMA, AR in BTCC (n = 75) and normal bladder mucosa (n = 15). Results: No expression of PSMA and AR was detected in normal bladder mucosa , and the positive expression rates of PSMA and AR in 75 cases of BTCC were 28.0 %, 21.3 %, respectively. Between in BTCC and in normal bladder mucosa, the difference of the positive expression rates of PSMA, AR were both statistical significance (P < 0.05). The positive expression of PSMA was not associated with the clinical stages and pathological grade, but was associated with whether the tumor was recurrent, with the statistical analysis revealed they had significant difference (P <0.01). The positive expression rate of AR in the BTCC had a tight relationship with the clinical stage of the tumor, and there was significant difference between the two stages(P <0.05). There was a positive correlation between the expression rates of PSMA and AR (r=0.328, P<0.01). Conclusion: The expression of PSMA and AR may be regarded as important markers in biological characters and prognosis of BTCC, and they may interact with one another in the development of BTCC.
