Instructions to Authors
Authors must adhere to the following guidelines, which are provided to ensure the expeditious processing of manuscripts. Failure to follow these guidelines will result in delays in the review process and publication, or possibly rejection.
Manuscript submission
Tianjin Medical Journalis a peer reviewed general medical journal, which disseminates and expands the progresses of clinical and experimental researches in time. The journal publishes Commentary, Cell and Molecular Biology, Experimental Study, Clinical Study, Epidemiological Investigation, Applied Essay, Drug Clinical Observation Evidence-Based Medicine, Review, Case Report and other categories of articles.
Structure of manuscripts
The manuscript must contain the following sections:
(1) Title,
(2) Abstract, (3) Introduction, (4) Materials and Methods, (5) Results, (6) Discussion, and (7) References.
(1) Title
The title must be concise, specific and descriptive, and identify the clinical significance of the manuscript. Title pages
should include the title, all authors’ full name(s) and institutional affiliation(s). For authors with different affiliations, place an Arabic number as a superscript after each author's name. Place an asterisk (△) after the name of the corresponding author and provide this author's E-mail address at the bottom of the title page. Information concerning sources of

(2) Abstract
Except the column of Case Report, manuscripts should contain a structured abstract in both Chinese and English including: 1) Objective, 2) Methods, 3) Results, and 4) Conclusion. Abstracts for Review may deviate from this format. At the end of Abstract section, list 5-8 key words from the list provided by Index Medicus or the Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) at may be indicated as a footnote.http://www.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/MBrowser.html.
(3)Introduction
This must state the succinct statements of the issue in question, the existing knowledge (references), research objectives, and hypothesis to be tested.
(4)Materials and Methods
The explanation of the experimental methods must be concise but sufficient to allow other researchers to reproduce the results. A product trade name must be accompanied by a generic term, and followed by a lot number, the manufacturer, city, and state/country in parenthesis. This section must provide technical information, apparatus details (manufacturer's name and brief address), and procedures. Provide references and brief descriptions for previously published methods. Describe statistical methods including software (name, version, manufacturer, city, state/ country in parenthesis) with sufficient detail and significance level to enable a reader with access to the original data to verify the reported results.
(5)Results
The results must be presented objectively and logically, using text, tables, and figures. Excessive repetition of table or figure content must be avoided. Statistical findings must be reported.
(6)Discussion
The data must be explained and interpreted concisely, without repeating data already presented in the Results section. Speculation is permitted, but must be supported by the presented data and be well founded. Limitation of the findings and studies must be described, and future research must be suggested. The conclusion must not repeat Results or Discussion section, but must concisely state inference, significance, or consequences.
(7)References
References should be cited in accordance with the national standard of
Rules for content, form and structure of bibliographic references (GB/T7714-2005). All references must be cited in the text, numbered in order of appearance. Superscript number must be used in the text (e.g. 1, 2,3, 4-8, etc). All references must be listed in Reference section at the end of the manuscript in numeric sequence as they are cited in the text. Do not include unpublished data or personal communications in the reference list. Authors are responsible for the accuracy and completeness of their references and the correct text citations. List authors and/or editors up to 3; if more than 3, list the first 3 authors followed by et al. Abbreviate journal names according to the examples used in Index Medicus and PubMed.

Standardization requirements
(1) Units of Measurement
Measurements of length, height, weight, and volume
should be reported in metric units (meter, kilogram, or liter) or their decimal multiples. Temperatures should be given in degrees Celsius. Blood pressures should be given in millimeters of mercury. All hematological and clinical chemistry measurements should be reported in the metric system in terms of the International System Units (SI).
(2) Statistical requirements
Specify the statistical software package(s) and versions used, describe statistical methods with enough detail and present statistical values. Avoid relying solely on statistical hypothesis testing, such as P values, which fail to convey important information about effect size and precision of estimates.
(3) Abbreviations
Use only standard abbreviations. Avoid abbreviations in the title and abstract. The full term for which an abbreviation stands should precede its first use in the text unless it is a standard unit of measurement.
When the submitted
manuscript get the article number, the first author is required to provide the introduction letter of institutional affiliations and pay review fee (50 Yuan RMB). Then
the editor-in-charge reviews
submitted manuscripts initially. Manuscripts with insufficient priority for publication
are rejected promptly. Other
manuscripts are sent to expert consultants for peer review.
Peer review
Peer reviewer identities are kept confidential.
The manuscript under review is not revealed to anyone other than peer reviewers and editorial staff. We encourage authors to suggest the names of possible reviewers, but we reserve the right of final selection.
Review/Editing of Manuscripts
Based on the
peer reviewers’
advices, some manuscripts are rejected; the others are reviewed and edited by the
editor-in-charge again. The first author will be notified of the status of manuscript and the advices from both the peer reviewers and editor-in-charge. Both list of revisions and responses to reviewers' advices must be resubmitted with revised manuscript. The publisher reserves the right to edit accepted manuscripts to fit the space available and to ensure conciseness, clarity, and stylistic consistency.

Publication
Authors are required to pay page fee if their manuscripts are accepted for publication. After publication, the corresponding author will receive two copies of printed journals and one copy of following twelve printed journals, free of charge.
