Abstract: Abstract Objective: To investigate the association between serum uric acid(UA)levels and different types of ACS, the severity of angiographic coronary artery stenosis and other related factors. Methods: The study group consisted of 272 consecutive patients over 75 years old with unstable angina pectoris or acute ST segment elevated myocardial infarction(STEMI) or non ST segment elevated myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) who underwent coronary angiography. Patients were divided into One, two, three-vessel coronary artery lesion group. Serum uric acid and creatinine level, as well as a fasting lipid profile and fasting blood glucose, were measured in all patients. Results: There were no significant difference in UA level among angina pectoris group, NSTEMI group and STEMI group. No difference of UA level were found among the three groups with different vessels lesion. The UA levels were significantly correlated with levels of Cr ,TG ,WBC positively and correlated with HDL-C levels negatively. Mutiple aggression analysis found that Cr、 HDL-C、 WBC were independently correlated with UA. Conclusions: UA levels were not affected by neither ACS types nor severity of coronary lesion in elderly patients over 75 years. Cr、 HDL-C、WBC were independently related factors of UA.
Key words: serum uric acid, acute coronary artery syndrome, elderly, lipids, white blood cell
