Abstract: Objective To explore the relationship between periodontal disease and chronic vasculopathy complications in Type 2 diabetes. Methods retrospective study was untaken in 166 diabetic patients on periodontal examinations and chronic vasculopathy complications. Logistic analysis was conducted between diabetic cases with chronic vasculopathy complications for risk factors. Result (1) periodontal pocket depth(PD) ,gingivitis index (GI) and clinical attachment loss(CAL) were significantly increased in each groups with diabetes. The levels of PD , GI and CAL were higher in each diabetic complication group than in diabetic group without complications. (2)Durations of diabetes and HbA1c were positively correlated with PD ,GI and CAL. (3)The Logistic analysis showed that PD , GI and CAL were significantly related to diabetic groups with chronic vasculopathy complications. Conclusions There may be a correlation between Periodontal disease and chronic vasculopathy complications in Type 2 diabetes.
