Abstract: [Abstract] Objective:To observe the therapeutic effect of nimodipine in treatment of Diffuse axonal injury (DAI) . Methods:100 mouse with DAI were divided randomly into two groups. In treatment group nimodipine was injected intravenously for 7 days. In control group mouse receive the same treatment measures but no nimodipine was given. The brain water content and the EB content at every time point ( before DAI and 6h, 1d, 3d, 7d after DAI) were closely observed. Results:The climax of the brain water content came to at 1d after DAI, and one of the EB content came to at 3d after DAI. The proportion of the brain water content and the EB content at 6h, 1d, 3d, 7d after DAI in treatment group were significantly lower than the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion:Nimodipine decreases the permeability of BBB and has definitive effect for brain edema after DAI.
