Abstract: 【Abstract】Objective To investigate the relationship between the CXCL5 gene –156G/C polymorphism and type 2 diabetes mellitus in Han population of Qinhuangdao region of north China's Hebei Province. Methods The polymorphism of CXCL5 gene promoter region -156G/C was detected by PCR-RFLP method in 210 patients with type 2 diabetes and 171 normal controls. The genotype and allele frequencies distributions were compared between two groups. Results Distribution of genotype and allele of the two groups are not statistically significant(χ2=2.80, p=0.247;χ2=1.029, P=0.310). The –156G/C polymorphism was not associated with type 2 diabetes,(OR=1.214 95%CI= 0.859-1.716). Conclusions In Qinhuangdao Area, T2DM group and the control group show no statistically significant difference in the distribution of genotype and allele. Perhaps, CXCL5 genetic polymorphism is not a risk factor for diabetes in Hebei Han minority.
