The investigation and study of anemia during pregnancy among nationwide station hospital from 2001 to 2011

Abstract: Objective:To understand the annual nationwide station hospital patients with gestational anemia prevalence rate and related factors from 2001 to 2011. Methods: A retrospective analysis of the clinical data of anemia during pregnancy for the patients who were treated from October 2000 to September 2011 collected by the Chinese people's Liberation Army General Logistics Department information and technology center case inquiry system ,there were 26339 cases in total and 7986 of them were diagnosed as anemia during pregnancy. The illness circumstances analysis of different age structure, stage of pregnancy and anaemia type, examination of its related factors. Results: The prevalence rate of mild, moderate and severe anemia in gestational period was 56.17%, 43.7 and 0.13%, respectively. The incidence of anemia in the 31-40 age groups was higher than 21-25 and 26-30 age groups. The former group was moderate anemia in majority and the other two groups was mainly mild anemia. The prevalence rate of anemia during pregnancy was increased during 2001-2006, maintained at high levels during 2006-2009, and decreased after 2009. The incidence of anemia was higher in third trimester than that in first and second trimester; moderate anemia was in majority in first and second trimester, while there is mainly mild anemia in third trimester. The anemia during all stage was mostly iron deficiency anemia. Conclusion: We should strengthen the knowledge and skill training for obstetrician in pregnancy nutrition and diet guidance,while enhance the high-risk pregnant perinatal care, reasonablely adjust dietary structure, routinely complement multivitamins and trace elements from the beginning of the second trimester, especially iron, to prevent and reduce the occurrence of anemia.
