Abstract: Objective Diameter and thickness measurement of children lens of different ages by B-mode ultrasonography explore the relationship between age and lens development. Methods Diameter and thickness of the lens in 398 children were measured by B-mode ultrasonography and then statistically analyzed. Results After statistical processing, lens thickness and diameter were positively correlated with age; lens thickness were positively correlated with diameter; Diameter and thickness of lens increased with age in each age group. Following conclusions were achieved by interval prediction: the lens thickness in children were close to adults from 2.5 years to 3 years; the diameter of lens in children were close to adults from 11 years to 14 years; the thickness of children lens were close to adult’s when the diameter of lens were from 8.1mm to 8.2mm. 〔normal lens diameter of adult was 9-10mm, normal lens thickness of adult was 4-5mm〕. The diameter and thickness of lens were in rapid growth period under 3 years old and in slow growth period after three. The difference between men and women had no statistical significance; the difference between right and left eyes had no statistical significance. Conclusion Children with intraocular lens implantation should choose the appropriate age and appropriate intraocular lens.
