Abstract: Abstract Objective To investigate the changes of MCP-1 in OLETF rats with Insulin Resistance and whether angiotensin II type/(AT1)receptor blocker,Telmisartan has a protective effect by influencing MCP-1 expression. Methods 22 male OLETF rats were fed with high-fat diet for 32 weeks to establish the insulin resistance model with hyperlipidemia。the 20 male OLETF rats with insulin resistance model were randomly assigned into two groups:①the model group,in which the rats were fed with high-diet;②the Telmisartan group,in which the rats were fed with high-diet and Telmisartan .After 16 weeks of drug intervention,MCP-1,fasting blood glucose, fasting insulin,FFA and lipid level in plasma were measured. Results After the OLETF rats were treated for 16 weeks with Telmisartan , Telmisartan can improve insulin resistance and lipid metabolism .the serum MCP-1 was significantly lower than that of the model group(p<0.05).Conclusion Telmisartan can improve IR、blood glucose and the mechanism might be that it could inhibit the MCP-1 expression in serum.
