Abstract: Objective To investigate the association between G894T and 27bp varible number of tandem repeats(VNTR) polymorphism of endothelial nitric oxide synthase(eNOs) gene and essential hypertension(EH) Methods The PCR-RFLP method was used to detect genetypes of eNOS gene exon 7th 894 site and intron 4 th VNTR in350 patients with EH and 150 controls. Questionnaire refered to smoking, drinking, body mass index, etc was administered. Results There was no significant difference in frequencies of T allele and GT+TT genotypes in hypertension group than in control. The frequencies of a allele and aa+ab genotypes were significantly higher in hypertension group than in control. There was no significant synergistic effects of eNOS gene exon 7th 894 site and intron 4 th VNTR in EH.Conclusion The polymorphism of eNOS G894T was not associated with hypetension, while the polymorphism of intron 4 th VNTR was associated with hypertension, there was no significant synergistic effects.
