Abstract: ABSTRACT: Objective To evaluate the relationship between common carotid artery (CCA) intima-media thickness (IMT),common carotid artery diameter(D) and carotid artery atherosclerosis(CAS) by ultrasonograph . Investigated IMT and D as a sensitivity indicator of the CAS,and to provide an early prevention for cerebral infarction. . Methods The carotid artery of 40 high-risk group and the 40 mild dangerous group with hypertension were assessed by color Doppler ultrasonography. IMT and D were measured at the common carotid arteries .Results ①The IMT, D of hypertension the high-risk group are higher than the mild dangerous group obviously(P <0.05 );②There was a significant difference in abnormal rate of isolated IMT or D between hypertension high-risk group and mild dangerous group(P <0.05 ),but there was a extremely significant difference with the abnormality both IMT and D to compare(P <0.01) . Conclusion The enlargement of common carotid artery IMT and D as a objective maker to CAS, but coexistent abnormalities of IMT and D are more sensitive to CAS.
