Abstract: [Abstract] Objective   To explore the prevalence of hypertension and its risk factors in police officers in Tianjin. Methods   Based on the clinical data of periodic heath examination in a total of 3189 individuals, a questionnaire survey and physical examination were conducted. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression methods were used to analyze risk factors of hypertension. Results    Of all participants, 1376 individuals (43.1%) were diagnosed with hypertension. The study population was grouped by 21- years old, 30- years old, 40- years old and 50-60 years old. The prevalence of hypertension was significantly difference in different age groups(χ 2=241.864,P < 0.001). The results of multivariate logistic regression analysis indicated that the risk factors of hypertension were associated with age, family history of hypertension (OR=1.588,95%CI=1.320-1.910), diabetes history (OR=1.597,95%CI=1.038-2.457), salty diet (OR=1.285,95%CI=1.034-1.596), total cholesterol (OR=1.171,95%CI=1.056-1.298), and triglyceride (OR=1.323,95%CI=1.208-1.449). Conclusion   There is high prevalence of hypertension in police officers in Tianjin. The risk factors of the hypertension are age, family history of hypertension, diabetes, salty diet, total cholesterol and triglyceride.
