Value of ultrasonography and color doppler imaging in the clinical diagnosis of orbital vascular disorders

Abstract: Objective To evaluate the image characteristics of the ultrasonography(US) and color doppler imaging(CDI) in the diagnosis of orbital vascular disorders. Methods A retrospective series of 118 patients with orbital vascular disorders were involved and the image characteristics of ultrasonography and color doppler imaging were analysed. The tissue specimens of tumor were obtained during the operation for histopathological examination. Results Among 118 cases of orbital vascular disorders, 69 cases of cavernous hemangioma, 27 cases of lymphangioma, 13 cases of venou hemangioma, 5 cases of varix and 4 cases of capillary hemangioma。 In all patients, different disorders have different echograms and characteristic bloods, so it is helpful for diagnosis of there disorders through manifestation of characteristic bloods in combination with special echograms. Conclusion Both US and CDI are useful in the diagnosis of orbital vascular disorders.
