Abstract: Abstract Objective :To assess the subarachnoid block anesthesia effect of intrathecal bupivacaine and midazolam on patients undergoing gynecologic operation. Methods: A total of 86 patients scheduled for elective myomectomy procedures were selected to participate in this study. According to random number table, patients were allocated into two groups and each group was 43 cases. Group A received 3 mL 0.5% bupivacaine with 0.4mL saline, and group B received 3 mL 0.5 % bupivacaine and 0.4 mL (2mg) midazolam mixture. The onset, duration of sensory/motor block, sedation score and side effects were observed in the experiment. Results: Compared with group A, the duration of sensory blockade was prolonged in the group B(midazolam group), p<0.05, while the time and duration of motor blockade and sedation score were comparable. However he rate of nausea and vomiting has significant difference(p<0.05).Conclusion: Intrathecal bupivacaine with 2mg midazolam resulted in prolonged postoperative analgesia and decreased the adverse effect without increasing motor block time.
