Clinical analysis of mesenteric venous thrombosis:a report of 48 cases

Abstract: Object To assess early diagnosis and therapeutic management of mesenteric venous thrombosis (MVT). Methods The clinical data of 48 inpatients treated in our hospital from May 2000 to April 2010 was reviewed and incident cause,clinical features,diagnosis and treatment were analysied retrospectively. Results There were 32males(66.7%) and16 females(33.3%),the age ranged from 25 to 80 years old with a mean age of 51.23 years.19 cases (39.6%)were treated by emergency operation,6 cases(12.5%) needed surgical intervention.23 cases(92.0%) were cured,2 cases(8.3%) were died after operation.23 cases(47.9%) were cured with non-surgical management. 23 cases (100%)were cured.After follow-up one to sixty months,6 cases(12.5%)had MVT recurrence.one died. Conclusion :The risk factor of mesenteric venous thrombosis are DM, pancreatitis,cardiac,hypercoagulation, oral contraceptive,liver disease.Early diagnosis and anticoagulant thrombolytic therapy, permit radical surgery in time are key to improve the cure rate.
